Futile Ministry...

From my journal this morning:

“...my advice is, leave these men alone. If they are teaching and doing these things merely on their own, it will soon be overthrown. But if it is of God, you will not be able to stop them. You may even find yourselves fighting against God.”Acts 5:38-39 (NLT)

Here's what God said to me:

regarding those of us who are leading the church in this new generation:

I used to think that I couldn't do ministry without God. that's not true. I can teach without god; I can counsel without God; I can lead without God; we can have church (and conferences) without God. But it won't last. It won't produce eternal fruit. We've GOT to make sure that our ministries are flowing our of our own personal relationship with God!

Regarding those who struggle with this new generation of churches and leaders (and even criticize what we're doing):

Why not let God be the judge? Why not just see if it lasts? If it does, it's from God. If it's not of God, it won't last anyway. So why trouble yourself? In any event, be careful, because if you criticize something God IS using, you find yourself fighting against God. I didn't say that. He did. There in black and white.
