From time to time, Pastor friends of mine will tell me: "I was out-of-town last weekend. I missed preaching! I'm ready to get back in there and preach!" I must confess that I can't relate to this feeling all that well. Believe it or not, I don't "enjoy" preaching, at least like a lot of Pastors I know. I certainly don't enjoy preparing to preach. It is grueling work to get alone with God and receive His message for people week after week. Just being honest! I don't even get a "rush" when I speak to large crowds. I don't even consider myself to be an eloquent speaker! Here's what I do know, however: God has called me to proclaim His Word; and preach His Gospel. I have never taken a spiritual gift inventory test, but I know God has given me the spiritual gift of prophecy, because He always uses me when I speak for Him. I can't even explain exactly how, and I don't even understand it all, but God speaks to me. He speaks to me as I prepare. He speaks to me as I speak. Sometimes He completely takes over when I speak! He moves me. He moves people. He inspires, encourage, equips, and challenges people when I speak. When I speak, I don't even understand it all, but God uses me! That's why I speak for Him. That inspires me as I prepare to speak for Him once again. Somehow, some way He will use me when I speak for Him this Sunday!
Does any of this inspire, encourage, or challenge you? Let me her from you.
