Conviction: As leaders of the team, we must be passionate about what we do! We need to let our teams know we love our jobs! They need to see us sit up to the edge of our seats in meetings when we discuss the mission and future direction of our organizations. Countless times in my sixteen years of vocational ministry, I have sat up to the edge of my chair and spoken with conviction to our team. Why? Vision leaks. All of us forget that what we do echoes into eternity. We ALL need to reminded. I need to allow God to remind me, and then I need to remind my team with great conviction.
Culture: A leader’s job is to define and set culture. Sam Chand, in his latest book, said that “Culture trumps vision.” I couldn’t agree with anything more! I am more convinced than ever before that we can have the most profound and Biblical vision any church has ever had, but if our team culture is toxic, we will not be successful in accomplishing the vision! The truth is, leaders set culture by design or by default.
