What is the greatest battle leaders face? Is it within the organizations we lead? Is it from a critic or naysayer? Is it from a staff member? Is it with the competition down the street? Is it the battle for time? With balance and/or our calendars?
What is the greatest battle leaders face? Here’s what I believe:
The greatest battle leaders face is the battle for our minds.
In our minds is where we battle with:
There are a lot of things in this world we can not control. We can
control our minds. We are commanded by God to win control of our minds!
“Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things (italics mine).” Philippians 4:8–9 (NIV)
What should we be thinking about?
What’s true. Not the lies of our enemy.
What’s noble. Not what’s dishonorable.
What’s right. Not just what’s going wrong.
What’s pure. Not gratifying our sinful nature.
What’s lovely. What’s beautiful.
What’s admirable. Not just what’s wrong with everyone.
What’s excellent. Not just where we all fall short.
What’s praiseworthy: What’s good. In this world. In others.
We can’t control what happens to us. We can control what happens in us.
If we think right, we will do right.
“For as he thinks in his heart, so is he…” Prov 23:7 NKJV
What are you thinking about today? Write it down. Dwell on it.
Go back to it. Stick to it. Pray for it. Claim it. Don't give up on it!
