You can do both…

… but you’ve got to handle it in the right way.

You’ve got to deal with behavioral issues, underperformance, etc (at the risk of NOT being liked).

Oddly enough, those things eventually have to be confronted REGARDLESS of whether or not we want to handle them…

And, if you wait, it might be too late.

Sometimes you’ve got to give up the desire for popularity in order to gain respect.

But one has to take primacy.
