Measuring Success :: The Difference Between Entrepreneurs and Leaders

Enjoy this excerpt from my latest book, Measuring Success, releasing 4/2/19 and available for pre-order wherever books are sold.

In the opening lines of my friend Rick Warren’s all world best seller, Rick states that when seeking to live a “purpose driven life,” that “it’s not about you.”

I believe the same is true with leadership.

There’s a difference between being an entrepreneur and a leader. An entrepreneur might be intelligent and innovative, but primarily focuses on individual success. Leadership, however, is always about people!

Can I challenge you?

“Measure your success not by the kingdoms you build, but by the people you build.”

Don’t use people to build your empire. Use your empire to build people! The knowledge and experience you are gaining now can benefit others in future conversations and situations. Don’t grow for your benefit. Grow for the benefit of others!

The best leaders don’t focus on getting to the top. They make their lives about getting others to the top. They coach, develop, and inspire others to be everything they need to be, and in the process, they end up...champions!
